    Charles Giradier dit \u00abL’ain\u00e9\u00bb (1759 – 1839)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Charles Girardier, nicknamed “Girardier L’ain\u00e9”, was a master watchmaker active in Geneva from the second half of the 18th<\/sup> century to the early 19th<\/sup> century. Its renown rested on its expertise in Geneva enameling, characterized by hand-painted miniatures on the dials of its clocks. He was also passionate about art-mechanics and was known for his creations of animated scenes (sayn\u00e8tes), notably automata, including the famous Jaquemarts.These features were not simply technical feats, but also added a dimension of visual intrigue to his creations. He used traditional goldsmithing techniques such as hand engraving, guilloch\u00e9, arabesque art and enamel painting, giving his pieces an unrivalled singularity.His unwavering commitment to authenticity and uniqueness has earned him widespread recognition. He was commissioned to design watches for eminent personalities of the time, including royalty and political leaders.When, at the turn of the 19th<\/sup> century, European watchmaking reached new heights in terms of precision, the time was right to offer customers even more ingenious and sophisticated curiosities and entertainments. The era of repeating watches and automata.The dial, small and sometimes eccentrically placed, leaves an exploitable surface, which the watchmaker’s imagination seizes upon. The subjects that lend themselves to automata are varied: the most common are Jaquemarts, imitated from those installed on large steeple clocks and other campaniles. Arranged on the face of the watch dial, or on a plate hidden beneath the case bowl, executed in colored golds, the little characters stand out against a background of enameled or engraved decoration, dressed in antique or fashionable costumes.Despite his significant contributions, Girardier’s name would remain silent for nearly two centuries after his death.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

    AUTHENTICITY & ORIGIN OF THE SYMBOL<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    In the history of watchmaking, hallmarks have been designed to certify the authenticity and quality of a timepiece or its movement. Their frame symbolized the protection, legitimacy and integrity of the work performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The “CG”<\/strong> monogram of the Charles Girardier hallmark pays tribute to our history. It is inspired by the initials engraved on our first manufacture movement, the PL01 caliber<\/strong>, developed for the Pl\u00e9nitude<\/em> model launched in 2026. His design echoes the fluid, ornamental style of Charles Girardier the elder’s original signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The hallmark frame is inspired by the decorative codes of the late XVIII\u1d49 and early XIX\u1d49 centuries, honoring the founder’s legacy.
